2017: 'Origins'

Welcome!

All 2017 competition results are now available and can be found here

2017 Theme: 'Origins'

Words in Winter is a not-for-profit festival celebrating words, stories and ideas in all their forms. It's for locals and visitors, with both local and visiting presenters, and includes events in writing, readings, poetry, theatre, music, talks, workshops, visiting authors, and exhibitions.

Words in Winter, founded by David Hall in 2002, has grown from being a Daylesford-only event into an annual literary and arts festival. Held in August each year it is one of the broadest festivals in the Hepburn Shire region.  In the past participating towns included Daylesford, Trentham, Clunes, Creswick, Newstead, and Maryborough . Each town chooses its own programme and is organised by volunteers.  The 2017 theme is 'Origins'

There are events for adults and events for kids. We have writing competitions too, bringing you the opportunity to sharpen your pencils (actual or digital), and share your words with us. So, get involved, have a go, join in the fun!

The WIW Trentham festival receives generous support from local businesses and individuals, without which it could not operate - see here.
