Our popular fifty word micro fiction competition is back for 2017, sponsored by Trentham's famous RedBeard Bakery.

We want 50 words - not 49, not 51 but exactly 50 words that relate to this years theme of 'origins'.  Original work that is wise, witty and wondrous please!

How to Enter

​

There are two ways to enter:

1. Online, here. Online entries will close on July 17th.

2. or, you can write your tiny masterpiece at RedBeard Bakery from June 15th onwards - drop in, have a coffee, pick up an entry form (on the table) and have a go. Last entries will be collected to send to the judge by 5pm Friday 5th August, so you get almost three extra weeks to do it in person.

3. Copyright remains with the author but RedBeard reserves the right to publish winning entries on its website, on social media, in local press, and display them in the RedBeard café. 

4. There is no cost to enter, though donations to Words in Winter are gratefully accepted.

Entries will be passed along to our judge and the winner will be announced at The Last Word on Sunday 20th August at The Neighbourhood Centre from 4.30pm to 6.30pm.

John Reid from RedBeard Bakery has once again kindly donated a $200 RedBeard Bakery voucher to the winner.
