Much loved ex-local Laurie McIntyre will return to Trentham to launch his third book of poetry, No Continuing City, at this special event.

The afternoon will also feature harpist Allison Walsh and singer Peter Fernon. Laurie will read from his new poetry book and a few fellow poets from his poetry group will read their work as well..

Laurie was born in 1931 at Camden in NSW.  He was the youngest of five sons of a father of Irish parentage and background and a mother of mixed English/Irish descent. He, and his one younger, sister are the only ones still living.

​

Laurie has been writing most of his life but has only begun sharing with anyone by the friendship and encouragement of a group of poetry enthusiasts when he was living in retirement in Trentham, a place which he enjoyed greatly.

​

He was ordained into the Anglican priesthood fifty - three years ago and has served most of his life in schools as teacher, chaplain, and finally in administration as deputy head and finally as Principal.  He has also served on the staff of two cathedrals, during his chequered career. 

​

Laurie has three adult sons, two adult daughters, and two grandchildren.

Laurie has always vowed he would not write about anybody or his ministry until all those whom he knew had died, but the Trentham Poetry Group changed his mind. He has kept in touch with this poetry group even after he left this area. His poetry  is idiosyncratic!  

He now lives in permanent, partial retirement in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.
